I loved this interview! I love Stacy Julian and LOVE to hear her fabulous perspectives. My biggest challenge is photos--I have 38,000 on my computer now (just from the past 3.5 years) and it's impossible to scrapbook because I'm so overwhelmed with photos. I'm taking LOM though so that should help!!
I also think that you should go ahead and buy an SLR. The biggest thing for me is that it's easier to take the pictures that I see in my head. Especially the fuzzy background--I just took a vacation and ended up using a disposable camera and when I got the pics back, I was so disappointed because they just weren't what I'm used to seeing from my digital SLR. I have a Canon Rebel XTi and love it. I still use a regular, cheaper digital for things like Disneyland when I don't want a big, bulky camera to lug around because it takes away from enjoying the moment. But for almost everything, I use my Canon and love it.
